that's me!bourne city

Disclaimer: This is gonna be a long post (trying to squeeze most of the things in...)

haha, i know if i don't post about my melb trip now, i won't do it anytime soon, or none at all =P
with much "determination", i managed to combine some pics together. hopefully they turn out good and pleasant to the eyes lol =)

departed to melb on the 1st of july, headed to the airport by taxi at 4am in the morning.
gate 25. i thought i waited at the wrong gate when the opposite gate announced it was time to board. tiok cheh kia~
on the plane, there was this uncle sitting beside me (why it seems like i always sit beside uncle on the plane? mm tong 我跟uncle很有缘份?) . halfway through the journey, he just couldn't stop coughing man! OMG....seeing that the H1N1 is so hiong now, he summore wanna coughed like that. Grrrr~
i didn't put on my mask though even i bought them earlier, in fact they're still remain perfectly in shape in my paper bag =P

on the way...didn't feel really comfortable with the seat...wanna sleep also cannot sleep.
i should have choose the window seat on the left side instead of right, cuz the scene of sun rising was sooooo beautiful the other side!
when the plane landed, and i walked out from the plane....damn! what kind of weather is this???
i was literally trembling and shaking...all thanks to the super cold weather and strong wind. imagine, carrying a large luggage, feeling slightly air-sick (i did puked later on though, near uni of melb summore hahaha, really paiseh!) and enduring the super cold strong wind...ohh, i didn't expect my melb trip would start this way :(

Took taxi to SK's place from the airport. it costs a bomb, for me it was a BOMB. but since it was the first time i visited melbourne, not familiar with the places and not knowing how to get to north melbourne from the airport..taking the cab was my last resort.
after putting down the luggage and stuff, she brought me to the city, by taking the tram.
melbourne is really a tram city cuz you can see trams everywhere, and they are frequent too. The cobweb-like tram cables prove how extensive is the tram system here.
there are even trams which also operate as restaurants. cool eh? you can dine in the tram and travel around the city, enjoying the city views.
one thing i observed was, melbourne city has a lot of indians leh. even the workers in hungry jack's are all indians!

The ever famous state library of Victoria.
day view. and the La Trobe reading room.
night view

continue to explore the city...
Federation Square, Chinatown, and some random building. (oopss, i forgot what's the building where uni students have their exam call already =P)

Famous spanish donuts, it's not the typical round with hole in the centre donut, but look a bit like yao za guai. thinner version. best served with fine sugar.
and explored the famous Victoria market too.
the right pic shows the Flinders Station and behind it is the Eureka Tower.
General Post Office (GPO)
a place for shopping too.
blue eiffel tower chocolates....interesting huh?

The Art Centre and National Gallery of Victoria.

Yarra River and city night view.

Flinders Station , St. Paul's Cathedral, and random horse carriage.
It's time to meet up with her before we went to meet up with more friends in Lygon Street for italian food! Waited at a garden which i've forgot the name (again!), and it rained out of nowhere. and yet we still managed to camwhore under the rain =D
Celebrating Elvin's birthday @ MercaDante Italian restaurant.
The boss of this restaurant is sooo whacky! kept coming out with tricks to fool some of us~

The next day, went to Docklands and Harbourtown. Didn't shop there, just "admiring" the places =P

Again, city night view.
and Crowne hotel and casino lepak-ing =P

i simply love the lightings in crowne!! they summore play those disney's songs (or so i thought), making the whole atmosphere so grand~

Brighton Beach!!

with lotsa colorful bathing boxes!!

while walking back to the train station, it rained again...~
another shrine of remembrance...

After that, Eureka tower here we come!
but on the way there, let me snap some pics first ;)
Eureka Skydeck.
it's the highest viewing platform in southern hemisphere. it's also the highest residential building in the world.
the lift also considered as the fastest in southern hemisphere as it moves about 9 meters per second. imagine the chi kek-ness haha! we were brought to level 88 within 30-40 seconds~
the view of melbourne from this skydeck is really amazing!!!
the entrance fee was $11 per person.
and we also decided to go to the Edge ($12 each person), which is a glass cube that projects 3 metres out of the building, and it's transparent! too bad we weren't allowed to bring camera in, so in the end we've bought the souvenir photos they took for us. it costs $12.50 each person~ expensive ler...but never mind la, it's worth it! =D

Cool touch screen thingy...

Melbourne central and Hoyts cinema where we watched Transformers 2~

Group pics in Crowne hotel and some korean restaurant in chinatown.
i shall never forget our very special "jump-a-thon"! we jumped for like at least 50 times or more...right?! those pics are at cyi's and gwen's camera lol...

Dim sum buffet-ing in DragonBoat restaurant.
hahahaa...loala full until wanna vomit~ actually we all also ate until very full lo =P
sayangnya, we didn't manage to eat the yummy egg tarts, blame the waitress!

while staying in the suburb (zone 2), i had to travel everyday to and fro at clayton station, caufield station, southern cross station, melbourne central station and flinders station.
it takes around 1hour plus to travel one way from zone 2 to city and vice versa.
tram, bus and train...i've rode 'em all =P

fast forward to the day i'm leaving.
took the skybus from southern cross station to the airport. $16 one way.
hmmm....quite 不舍得 melbourne~~

flying back by Virgin Blue...
i have to say that virgin blue's plane is better than tiger, their seats are way more comfortable and they provide better service too.

Melbourne, i will miss you!!!

p/s: these pics are only from my camera. i still have lotsa pics from gwen's DSLR (don't play play~ hehe!) and other's cam too =D
